THE MISSED LIST-LUKE COMBS

“THE MISSED LIST”

THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF INCREDIBLE COUNTRY SONGS OUT THERE ON THE RADIO. BUT WHAT ABOUT THE ONES THE CHARTS MISS? THAT’S WHY I DECIDED TO CREATE “THE MISSED LIST.” THIS IS A LIST OF GREAT UNFAMILIAR SONGS FROM ARTISTS YOU ALREADY KNOW AND LOVE. A DEEPER DIVE INTO SOME OF THEIR LESSER-KNOWN TUNES. I’M STARTING WITH A LIST OF LUKE COMBS’ SONGS THAT DESERVE A LOT MORE LOVE.

  1. MOON OVER MEXICO-THIS SONG TAKES THE LISTENER BACK TO A PERFECT MEMORY WITH THE ONE THEY LOVE. IT REMINDS ME OF MY HONEYMOON WITH MY HUSBAND. PLUS, IT MENTIONS PACIFICO BEER, WHICH IS SOMETHING TONY MICHAELS SAYS HE LOVES, BUT HE DIDN’T KNOW IT WAS HIGHLIGHTED IN THIS SONG. SOME FAN, HUH? HAHA
  2. MUST’VE NEVER MET YOU-I THINK MOST OF US HAVE LOVED AND LOST AND HAD A HELL OF A TIME GETTING OVER IT. LUKE DESCRIBES A PAINFUL BREAKUP BEAUTIFULLY IN THIS SONG. SERIOUSLY, WHO LIKES HEARING THE SAYING, “WHAT DOESN’T KILL YOU MAKES YOU STRONGER?” IT’S FINE, BUT THERE IS NO COMFORT PROVIDED FROM THAT PHRASE WHEN YOU ARE HEARTBROKEN.
  3. HOUSTON, WE GOT A PROBLEM-TALK ABOUT BEING EXACTLY WHERE YOU WANT TO BE, BUT MISSING THE ONE YOU LOVE. WHETHER IT’S A LONG-DISTANCE RELATIONSHIP OR A BUSINESS TRIP, EXPERIENCING NEW THINGS WITHOUT THAT SPECIAL SOMEONE CAN BE DIFFICULT. LUKE REALLY PAINTS A PICTURE WITH THIS ONE, WHILE USING A FAMILIAR SAYING. CUE TOM HANKS!
  4. REFRIGERATOR DOOR-THIS ONE HITS HOME FOR THIS COUNTRY GIRL. DID YOUR MOM PUT EVERYTHING ON THE FRIDGE LIKE MINE? PICTURES, GROCERY LISTS (THERE WAS AN I-G-A IN MAPLETON!) AND PAPER CLIPPINGS? WHAT A CLEVER WAY TO TALK ABOUT LIFE.
  5. USED TO YOU-TALK ABOUT A TEARJERKER. WHEN YOU LOSE SOMEONE, YOU LOSE THAT PART OF YOURSELF THAT WENT WITH THEM. THE GRIEF PROCESS KICKS IN AND NEVER ENDS. THIS SONG IS A BEAUTIFUL TRIBUTE TO ALL OF THOSE WE MISS EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. THE PAIN NEVER GOES AWAY, BUT YOU GET “USED TO IT” IN A WAY.

I HAVE BEEN A HUGE LUKE COMBS FAN SINCE HE CAME ON THE SCENE. I LOVE HIS AUTHENTIC SOUND, HIS “I AM WHO I AM ATTITUDE” AND THE VULNERABILITY IN HIS MUSIC. THERE AREN’T TOO MANY ALBUMS I CAN JUST PUSH PLAY AND LISTEN TO, BUT WHEN IT COMES TO LUKE COMBS, I ENJOY EVERY TUNE. ESPECIALLY THOSE ON THE MISSED LIST!
