2 weeks ago I posted about a desire to spread the love and kindness in Siouxland after my son and I ran into a lady at the mall in need of a hug and some good things to come her way. I must say I was blown away by all the heartwarming stories shared on the station. It was a nice contrast to all the mean spirited bickering you see on the national news.
I received word today the students at Lewis and Clark Elementary School in South Sioux City are in the process of conducting a huge kindness campaign. Each grade level has committed to completing a project that brings kindness to others in the South Sioux community. Some of the projects include making greeting cards for nursing homes, baking treats for local police and firefighters, and creating placemats for the Senior Center.
Additionally, the Student Leadership Council is making cards for City Council members, (Man, I hope these kiddos run for office someday), the Technology Club is emailing community veterans, the music students are singing songs for nursing home residents, and the teachers are donating clothing for a Clothing Drive to benefit students and their families.
A hashtag #LCChooseKind has been created to share the good news!
I’ve heard there is plans to involve the whole SSC community to participate with Lewis and Clark to “Choose Kind” during Random Acts of Kindness Week on Feb. 12-18. They’ve created “Choose Kind” signs for businesses to show their support.
How awesome is that?
